Laser Radial Youth World Championsihp
Lake Garda

An early start for 50% of the fleet provided some of the best racing of the week in the "Peler" wind from the north.
The red and green fleets completed their outstanding race from the previous day in 14 knots of wind which gave the frustrated fleet a chance to stretch their legs and get back on shore for an early lunch before going afloat again with the remainder of the fleet in the afternoon.

As expected the Peler wind died away to be replaced by a hot and humid calm. Ashore the fleet waited patiently for the "Ora" (Italian for Hour) so named because you can normally set your watch by it! In conditions similar to the previous day the Ora arrived a little late and with only 7 knots strength.

The yellow and blue fleets were sent away followed by the red fleet after a general recall. By the time a start for the remaining green fleet was attempted the Ora, being true to it's name rather than it's performance, was already dying after onle an hour of racing. In a repeat of the previous day the yellow fleet finished their full course, the blue fleet was shortened at the end the second downwind, the red fleet was abandoned and the green fleet postponed.

This means that 50% of the total fleet are 1 race behind schedule and the remaining 50% two races behind. An attempt will be made to catch up with another early start on Thursday.

Series leader, Tonci STIPANOVIC (CRO), sailed his fourth race yesterday in the blue fleet. He struggled in the light winds finishing 31, which dropped him to 15 overall. Jean-Baptiste BERNAZ (FRA) also sailed his fourth race yesterday but in the yellow fleet in which there were place changes in the approach to the finish. His eighth drops him to third overall. Tonko KUZMANIC (CRO) takes the overall lead after a second place in the fresher winds this morning.
