US Womens Match Racing Championship
New Orleans

The ISAF Grade 3, US Women's Match Race Championship finally got rolling yesterday at Southern Yacht Club in New Orleans.
Thursday was the scheduled start of the event, but the storm that wrecked havoc across the East Coast left high winds and large chop in it's wake on Lake Ponchatrain, so sailing was cancelled.

Bill Brundige and his Southern Yacht Club team were out bright and early this morning and were able to run 9 flights of racing. Only a boat break down prevented them from getting in a full double round robin. Deb Schoenherr and her umpire team kept a watchful eye over the 5 competing teams, with few flags, and only one penalty assessed.

The RC team will be working to finish the second round robin, and run two more to weed out the top four teams to advance to the finals and petit-finals. So far, Betsey Alison is undefeated, but Sandy Hayes and Sally Barkow are close behind, each with 3 losses. Hayes has finished the second round robin, and Barkow still has one match left to sail.

Current standings:

Alison: 7-0
Hayes: 5-3
Barkow: 4-3
Arms: 2-5
Ouellette:0-7
