Match Race Germany Qualifier 2005
Langenargen, Germany

Sten MOHR (DEN) was the benchmark on the first day of racing and continued to impress only to lose his winning streak in the tenth and final flight of the round robin, in the ISAF Grade 3 Match Race Germany Qualifier.
MOHR finished the round with just one defeat, and despite this loss he is looking forward positively to today´s action. Confident due to not only all his wins, but also the flawless crew work and boat handling he and his crew have produced. After training very hard on the Danish Match Racers, MOHR is accustomed to that size of boat though it is quite some time ago since he held a steering wheel in his magic hands. In his active times on the circuit, he said Kiwi´s were the best crew to have and also made the best teams and skippers, but times change. Russell COUTTS (NZL) is sailing with a Danish crew nowadays and Europe is up and coming in the match race scene. Denmark has established a Match Center structure and invested time, effort and money and it looks to be paying off.

After perfect conditions on Friday the weather only allowed the four final flights of the round robin to be completed yesterday.

In the top four, for whom a new game starts today, there is MOHR, the Shosholoza Challenge (RSA) America's Cup team with skipper Ian AINSLIE (RSA), and the German hopefuls Jan EIKE ANDRESEN, as well as local hero Tino ELLEGAST, who is the only sailor to have beaten MOHR so far.

These four are battling it out today on the stunning Lake Constance for a place in the ISAF Grade 1 Match Race Germany alongside the very cream of the match racing crop..
