In addition to visual presentations in the club house, participants will be given the opportunity to view a selection of boats at the marina and in the dinghy park. Those staying overnight in Kinsale will also have an opportunity to go sailing with IDSA members on the Sunday.

The workshop is part of the Sailforce.ie campaign being run by the IDSA to encourage the successes achieved in Kinsale Yacht Club and the Royal Cork Yacht Club to spread nationwide. Kinsale operates a fully integrated Squib fleet and has produced two Paralympic Sonar teams.

The Royal Cork has a vibrant junior sailing programme for children with disabilities run by Peter CUDMORE. The IDSA are also planning a series of 'Come & Try It' days throughout the country during the summer months. Clubs interested in hosting such an event should contact the IDSA. Details of these will be announced in the coming weeks.

'We are aware that individuals and small groups of people with disabilities are already involved with yacht clubs nationwide' explains Chairman Kevin DOWNING. 'We want to build on this, to encourage interaction of experiences and successes, and to show clubs how easy it is to integrate sailing for people with disabilities within their activities. All that's needed to get started is the right attitude.'

The IDSA has a policy of encouraging integrated sailing activities. Local expertise and impetus are key, with the IDSA and the Irish Sailing Association (ISA) playing supporting roles.
