Ellen MACARTHUR

Britain's record breaking round the world sailor, Ellen MacARTHUR, has been named in Time Magazine's 100 Most Influential People In The World list for 2005.

She finds herself on the list alongside names such diverse names as Nelson Mandela, Oprah Winfrey and The Dalai Lama!

The list recognizes 'global icons whose achievements, accomplishments and innovations are having the greatest impact in 2005'.

Earlier this year the 28 year old took 1 day, 8 hours, 35 minutes and 49 seconds off the single-handed round the world non-stop record previously held by Francis JOYON (FRA).

The Time accolade is not the first MacARTHUR has received since her record breaking feat. Just a few months ago she was nominated in the Alternative Sportsperson of the Year category in the Laureus World Sports Awards.
