Outteridge and Jensen celebrate their Olympic success

ISAF Rolex World Sailor of the Year Award 2012
Dublin, Ireland

Childhood friends Nathan Outteridge and Iain Jensen have raised the bar in the 49er since they teamed up in the class in 2009.
The Australians have been a permanent fixture on podiums and only a second place at the 2012 Semaine Olympique Francaise tarnishes a near perfect record in the nomination period.

On home waters at the Perth 2011 ISAF Sailing World Championship they turned their slow start around to conquer the Fremantle Doctor and their second 49er World Championship title. They successfully defended their title at the 2012 49er Worlds in Zadar, Croatia which teed them up nicely to take two further regatta wins and the 2011-2012 49er ISAF Sailing World Cup title.

Their run in to the London 2012 Olympic Sailing Competition had been sublime and having won every regatta sailed in at Weymouth and Portland, Great Britain they were clear favourites for Olympic gold.

Their confident approach continued at London 2012 and a race win on the opening day of the regatta set them on their way and with no race finishes outside of the top ten the competition had been crushed. A hefty blow was dealt to their competitors when they took gold with a race to spare.
