Formula Windsurfing Asian Pacific Championships

The promised southerly winds have arrived. A steady 12-14 knots kicked in at noon and remained with us all day.
The last race was sailed in 16 knots of wind As the formula fleet had only one race the previous days, Race Officer Rudolf Steiner decided to start with 2 races back to back for the formula competitors.

The changed wind direction made it possible to lay a perfect 15-20 minute course with start and finish just meters away from the beach bar, ideal for watching the spectacular racing.

Less ideal are the conditions for Marc Cardon, the scorer for the event. The room next to his office is being renovated which means that a drill hammer is in action all day hammering at the joint wall. Ear plugs only go so far.

Dorota Staszewska (POL) had a perfect series. First places in all races with Junko Nagoshi from Japan in second place.

In the men's fleet, Wojtek Brzozowski (POL) started the day in the wrong way with an OCS. He soon recovered with two victories. In second place is Gonzalo Costa Hoevel (ARG) with seconds in all races. Race 2 (the first of today) was won by Alexander Grynys (POL) who is now in third place overall.

The weather forecast for tomorrow is good so we expect more exciting races.
