Danish sailor Lotte MELDGAARD PEDERSEN led at the end of the first round robin, having won 12 of 15 contests. She went on to win one and lose one in the first matches of the second round robin, so she ended the day with 13 points. Sailing with Meldgaard Pedersen are Mia NIELSEN, Sille CHRISTENSEN, and Caroline CLAUSEN. Skilled veteran match racers, this team currently is ranked fourth in the ISAF Women's Match Race Rankings.

Having sailed one more match in round two than the Danes, American Sally BARKOW, who stood second with 11 points at the end of the first round, also has won one and lost one in the second round, raising her point total 12. Barkow, the youngest skipper in the regatta, is also the lowest-ranked, at 27 in the rankings. However, she has been sailing strongly enough to hold her own against many of the world's top match racers.

Rhode Islander Carol CRONIN, who with Nancy HABERLAND and Women's Worlds teammate Liz FILTER will represent the U.S. in the Yngling class in the upcoming Olympic Games in Athens, has been advancing steadily through the first round robin to take 10 of 15 there, then split two in the second round. Her 11 points currently are matched by Bermuda's Paula LEWIN, who will be racing against her in Athens, after Lewin added a pair of victories in round two today to her first round nine points.

For the second round robin, the Race Committee is using a format in which the pairings have been set so that skippers finishing first through eighth in the first round robin will race each other first in the series, while skippers in the lower positions race each other. This format provides a bit of a hedge against uncooperative wind and weather, as it can be truncated at the half-way point if necessary before passing on to a later stage of the event.
