Allen now owns Ichi Ban previously named Buon Giorno and Truant which is going to be rejoining the Sydney fleet from Western Australia. "My previous experience sailing the Farr 40 class, which has been close and enjoyable racing, lead to the purchase of the F40's. I am looking forward to racing the F40 in the One Design class racing and the Farr 52 in ocean and handicap racing programmes." commented Allen.

Joining Allen as a new owner is Matt SHORT whose boat was previously named Blue Chip and raced on the west coast of the USA. Blue Chip was fifth on handicap in the 2003 Transpac and will be renamed Short Shipped. The girls will be in charge with Matt's daughter's, wife and sister in law crewing for Matt."We are looking forward to a lot of fun with this boat and my older sister will be our tactician. Dad saw the F40's lined up at the CYCA one day which has inspired this purchase" said Nikki, Matt's second daughter. Youngest daughter Caitlin will be advising Matt as tactician and the boat will be fitted out with an appropriate pink wheel, 'So we can stand out from the fleet' smirked Nikki SHORT.

Simon WHISTON has departed from the class after Ivan Wheen purchased Smile now known as Sputnik."My Etchell is Sputnik and Ivan is a Russian name so I thought I'd stick with the theme" commented class newcomer Wheen. Sputnik's livery which is now a white hull with a red star has been seen competing regularly in the CYCA winter series.

Queensland owner Kevin Miller has sold his boat Valley Tram to Ed PASLTIS of AFR Midnight Rambler fame and the boat has been entered in the Hamilton Island Race Week.

Class stalwart Richard PERINI is bringing his new boat back from the USA after racing at the 2004 Farr 40 Worlds in San Francisco in September. Perini will now be racing under the name of Evolution after four years as Corinthian Doors.

The class will be represented in a number of regattas both in Australia and overseas during the next few months before the 2004/05 season begins in October and culminates with the 2005 Worlds in Sydney next March. Both Lang WALKER and Richard PERINI will be flying the Australian flag in San Francisco at the 2004 Rolex F40 World Championship in September.
