BP Explorer and Team7 are neck and neck as they race towards Muckle Flugga and the whole fleet are anxious about the lack of wind.
Barclays have pulled ahead of SAIC who are pretty much directly astern of them and the other yachts are lining up on the shortest distance to the psychological 'top' of the course.
So why is there no wind? Looking at the weather chart shows us a feature meteorologist call a 'col' - that is, a dead zone between two Highs (north and south) and two Lows (east and west) - it's text book stuff, but that won't be any consolation to the crews. In his Duty Yacht report this morning, Paul KELLY on Team Save the Children said
"All well, no wind, flapping sails, smelly crew. finish August??." Lets hope it is not that late.
There is still progress however with most yacht reporting about 5 knots of boat speed. The leaders should be at the 'top' at about lunchtime today.
We have our weekend gremlin back with the race viewer. While the chart is showing the correct positions, the position table is showing junk data. We are working on it and we'll give you an update once the gremlin has been caught and banished. Thanks for bearing with us.....
