Rolex Cup - Maxi World Championship
Porto Cervo, Sardinia

The Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup 2002 ended yesterday with the team of<I> "Alexia"</I>celebrating their victory in the IMS division, by throwing their owner, Alberto Roemmers Jr. in the water.

Today's regatta was the last one of the five days event of intense racing in the waters of Porto Cervo. In second place was Carlo Perrone's "Virtuelle", and by winning the last race, surpassed "Sotto Voce" in the final classification. The Classic Cruisers award was given to George Lindemann's "Adela

The different weather conditions which accompanied the races during the five days of regattas went from light breezes to strong mistral winds, thus permitting the beautiful Maxi Yachts to take advantage of the highly technological equipment on board.

The success of this event as one of the most colourful in the yacht racing calendar has also been created due to the important role of the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda, which as the main organizer of this event, fully satisfied both teams and yacht owners here present in Porto Cervo. The choice of allowing the yachts to run along, at a close distance, the beautiful coasts of the archipelago of La Maddalena, made it possible for many lovers of the sailing sport to admire the races and the large sails from a distance

This edition of the Rolex Cup, ended with an awards ceremony in the Piazza Azzurra, with the notable presence of the Prince Aga Khan
