ABYA, YDSA and PCA are independent associations whose members are all independent individuals who have been elected as members of their professional association. YBDSA provides the secretariat for the 3 associations and each association is independent of the other.

About the YBDSA - 1912 - 2012

The YBDSA is the management company for the YDSA, ABYA and PCA. YBDSA also has 'Associates'' who are professionals within the marine industry such as lawyers and insurers, and these are listed on this website. The YDSA does not provide entry-level training for designers or surveyors, but provides on-going development training to assist members to maintain their professional knowledge and expertise. The ABYA Practical Yacht Brokerage course is ideal for those wishing to become brokers, recently started working as a broker or to provide a "refresher" for experienced brokers.

A 'professional' is generally considered to be someone with the relevant practical and theoretical knowledge, together with membership of a professional association.
