Day Skipper now mobile compatible.

It's great to see that so many of our students are working through their Day Skipper/Coastal Theory Modules as we receive copies of their submitted answers which means they are moving towards taking the theory exam. Five students are planned in for this month already. I am sure they will do well. Many say it gets quite compulsive as they complete a module successfully and go onto the next.

The standard of answers are consistently high and errors are usually down to misreading workings -- an easy mistake to make but easily remedied by always working tidily as the course reminds us!!

I have run many Practical Courses over the winter months and can honestly say that those who have completed this Theory Course are often heads and shoulders above the rest and get far more from the Practical with a solid understanding of all the essential elements of tides, navigation, passage planning, collision regs, weather etc. etc.

RYA Essential Navigation - Day Skipper - Coastal and Ocean Yachtmaster.

Compatibility for various operating systems.

Navathome RYA online course software is compatible with Windows, Mac and Linux operating systems and is compatible all browsers.

The Day Skipper course is compatible with mobile devices such as Ipad and Galaxy.
Mobile compatibility for Coastal/Yachtmaster and Ocean will follow shortly.

The RYA plotter simulator is windows based and will not work on a Mac.
The plotter is used in a couple of questions in the RYA Day Skipper and Coastal Yachtmaster course and is not used at all in the Ocean Yachtmaster theory.

Generally we ask students using Mac computers to answer the questions manually that would normally use the RYA plotter simulator it does not affect the course at all..

All our P.C. based courses use Flash animate graphics and the software, required to run them, should already be installed on your computer. An option to install an up to date version of Flash is available and will download automatically if required.

Courses for mobile devices have the same animated graphics but they are not Flash driven.

What next

Currently we are working on improving the Day Skipper theory course by animating every answer using step by step animations. This has worked very well in the Coastal Yachtmaster and Ocean Yachtmaster courses resulting in great feedback.

New booking System

A new automatic registration and booking system is now online which makes it easier for RYA Training Centres and individual students to book direct and obtain their login details immediately.

Instant feedback system.

The instant feedback system is in place and working well. When students submit answers there is instant feedback from an answer page giving the correct answer, usually in the form of a step by step animated graphic of how the answer should have been obtained. This gives the student a learn by your mistakes experience.

The automatic feedback system also sends a copy of the submitted answers to the students dedicated instructor who will provide additional feedback to the student by e-mail.
