RORC 

The Royal Ocean Racing Club (RORC) was founded in 1925 after a race to the Fastnet rock was organised by a group of boat owners.

The club was set up to encourage  long distance yacht racing and the design, build and navigation of sailing vessels in which speed and seaworthiness are combined. The club is a world authority in the organisation of offshore races both in the UK and overseas. These include world famous events such as the Rolex Fastnet race, Rolex Commodores Cup, RORC Caribbean 600 and the Admiral’s Cup. RORC is also the joint owner of IRC, the yacht rating rule that is used for handicap racing by over 7000 yachts worldwide.

The Royal Ocean Racing Club currently has some 3,500 members, of whom almost a third are overseas members and is conveniently situated in St James’s Place in the heart of London.

RORC is keen to encourage youth sailors to become involved in offshore racing and is delighted to lend its support to the John Merricks Sailing Trust and British Keelboat Academy.
