The British Olympic Association (BOA) is the National Olympic Committee (NOC) for Great Britain and Northern Ireland.  A vibrant, dynamic, highly professional organisation it requires compatible and strong leadership to ensure it maximises the opportunities and legacy from fielding the most successful Team GB in over 100 years at the London 2012 Games and continues to drive forward the vision and mission of the BOA both nationally and internationally.

Chairman (non-executive)

The Chairman (non-executive) is an elected position, elected by the members of the National Olympic Committee to whom s/he remains accountable. Following the huge success of London 2012, the incoming Chairman will have the responsibility of leading the organisation through a remarkable period in its history towards Sochi 2014, Rio 2016 and the youth Games and events that also take place during the forthcoming quadrennium. The term is, therefore, initially for a period of four years.

The BOA is a non‐governmental organisation with no political interests. It is entirely dependent upon commercial sponsorship and fundraising income. The BOA is a strong, independent voice for British Olympic Sport.

The Role

·       Providing leadership to the BOA Board, which sets the policy and strategic direction for the BOA and to whom the CEO is accountable.

·       Encouraging the Board's role in strategic planning and lead the Board's final approval of all strategic plans for the organisation.

·       Ensuring collaborative and effective relationships between:  the Board and the CEO and; the Board and external stakeholders/community, in particular with the International Olympic Family.

The Person

·       Proven track record of successful leadership of a multi-faceted organisation with extensive experience of chairing a Board consisting of a diverse group of stakeholders including Government.

·       Relevant knowledge of sport, the key stakeholders within sport, the Olympic Movement and sports policies both nationally and internationally.

·       Excellent commercial acumen and financial expertise, with a strong network across UK plc.
