UK Sport’s Research and Innovation team are involved in a number of projects that look to develop bespoke equipment, technologies and scientific knowledge to support the performance of British athletes.

Recently we have taken the decision to start developing a commercial arm to our activities. This will look to capitalise on the success of our work across a range of Olympic and Paralympic sports and allow us to invest more revenue back into specific Research and Innovation projects. An example of this is the work that we have carried out with British Cycling over a number of years to develop their track bicycles.

Following a recent announcement from the UCI on their rules and principles on bicycles and equipment, we are now making these products available to third parties subject to agreeing commercial terms. This includes carbon track and pursuit frames, forks, pursuit bars, sprint bars, and saddles.  select this link to find out more about what is available .

In addition, we have recently finished a project on Racing Wheelchairs. The chassis has been available since 1 April, 2012 for third parties. All orders are subject to agreeing commercial terms.

If you are interested in speaking to UK Sport with regard to any of these commercial opportunities linked to our Research and Innovation programme please email your enquiry to commercial@uksport.gov.uk .
