From Ullswater to Poole Harbour and from Northampton to Warsash, the Nationwide series wound its way through the calendar and around the country culminating in the Pennines. There were several parallel competitions:  friendliest club, masterchef, strictest parking warden and top siblings.

In many coastal sailing clubs, dinghy sailors and cruising boat sailors tend to separate and go their different ways, thus splitting the club into two factions, with little to connect them. A few years ago in our east coast club we found the same problem, and initially we tried to encourage combined cruisers-and-dinghy sailing meet-ups, to entice the two types to meet over a barbecue on a beach somewhere locally.

On a cold September morning with very little wind the fleet of 17 mirrors set sail on Pennine water. There was some high quality light wind sailing especially from Emma Clayton and Faye Caswell who mastered the fluky conditions claiming two 1^st and a 4th.  

Seven Mirrors competed in Waldringfield Sailing Club's Cartoon Open on 15/16 September.

Saturday brought late-summer sunshine and a steady force three for most of the day. The consistency of Chris & Sean Woodard and Neil & Lia Fletcher earned them 1st and 2nd places respectively in each of the day's three races. Mark & Rebecca Hodge took 3rd in races two and three.
