From 17 to 28 October, The Royal Society of Marine Artists Annual Exhibition will be taking place at Mall Galleries, London and as an RYA member entry is free.

From the sea, harbours and shorelines, to racing yachts and traditional craft, historical work, beaches and creeks; in fact anything that involves tidal waters, the RSMA Annual Exhibition is a chance to view work by many of the best contemporary marine artists.

The exhibition includes works of the River Thames to the canals of Venice, from the recent past to long ago; this years’ Queen’s Jubilee Regatta to the Sinking of the Mary Rose in 1545 there is plenty to enjoy.

Works by Geoff Hunt show scenes from maritime history, including the sinking of the Mary Rose, Henry VIII’s warship lost in battle to the French just off the coast of the Isle of Wight in 1545 and British and Commonwealth aircraft-carriers at the Coronation Fleet Review, 15 June 1953 Hunt has also painted history in the making with his “The day we wished for! Artist’s impression painted before the river pageant”.

The Queen’s Jubilee will also be celebrated in work by Ronny Moortgat, Robert King and Rowena Wright.
