Welcome to Dovestone Sailing Club
We are a sailing club, affiliated to the RYA, that welcomes families and individuals new to sailing or experienced. We provide training and coaching for adults and young people, to develop skills towards taking part in the club racing programme and beyond.
Dovestone Sailing Club has sole use of the almost 100 acre reservoir at Greenfield near Oldham. It is set amid dramatic scenery in the PEAK DISTRICT NATIONAL PARK off the A635 Greenfield to Holmfirth Road, via Banks Lane. It is approximately half a mile from the Clarence Hotel at the junction of Chew Valley Road and Manchester Road, Greenfield.
Give us a call, send an email or just drop in.
What we do
From March to mid December there is sailing at the Club on a Sunday. This takes the form of a series of races and Open meetings. There is regular sailing on Saturdays and Wednesday evening sailing from April until the end of August. The club is a recognised RYA training centre and as such is host to sail and power training.
Where we are
We are located on the North East edge of the Peak District National Park in a spectacular setting.
The Club House
The club house has a galley (a kitchen for you landlubbers), a large communal room, changing rooms with hot showers and a licensed bar. Underneath the club house there is room for the club's three safety boats and for storage of the club Optimists.
There are regular social events at the Club House including the ever popular summer bbq.
How to join
It's easy to join - just download this form - fill it in and send it to the address on the form. You don't need a boat straightaway. Borrow a club boat, or crew for another member. When you are ready to buy a boat it doesn't need to cost an arm and a leg, there are lots of second-hand bargains to be had .
If you've walked around the lake and often fancied yourself bobbing about in one of the boats then what are you waiting for - join today and you'll be sailing by the weekend.
