Join in Push the Boat Out day this July
Thousands of people are planning to get out on the water on 21 July to show their support for the British Sailing Team.
Taking place on the 21 July 2012, one week before the start of the
London 2012 Games, Push the Boat Out day promises to be a real
spectacle. Thousands of people are planning to get out on the water that
day to show their support for the British Sailing Team, and to showcase
to the rest of the nation just how great it is to be out on the water
on a boat.
Sailing clubs, training schools, marinas and
individuals; sail and motor boaters can get involved in the day in lots
of different ways: by organising a flotilla, or regatta, fun races or
just a pleasant cruise with friends.
“It is so exciting
to think that thousands of people will be out on the water that day
waving the flag for Britain’s sailors”. said Sail for Gold event
coordinator Celia Edgington speaking at the launch of the launch of Push
the Boat Out which took place at the Tullet Prebon London International
Boat Show in January.
“Some clubs have already starting
planning their events with ideas ranging from a mini Sail for Gold
regattas and mini Olympics, to treasure hunts and have-a-go days.
Anyone interested in taking part in the day can find out lots more
information on the Sail for Gold website pages

“We would love people to choose a time in the day to wave flags and
show their support for the team. We’re asking people to take photos of
their day, and to share them with us on the Sail for Gold Facebook page,
along with any good luck messages for the British sailors which we
share them with them before they do battle at the Games. But most of
all we just want everyone to have great fun.”
Push the
Boat Out is just one of the many great Sail for Gold events taking place
