Match Racing 2011 

The RYA National Match Racing Series is a sailors first step towards elite match racing events such as the America's Cup and ISAF World Match Racing Tour.

The top GBR match racers, such as Ian Williams and Lucy MacGregor, began their sailing careers by competing in this series.

Qualification

  1. All events are open, accept the Championship Finals, which is by invitation only.  
  2. Only British teams or those eligible to receive a British passport will be invited to attend the Championship Finals in November.
  3. Priority for places will be given to GBR teams who enter at least 1 month before the event date.
  4. The winners or top GBR team of above named events will be invited to the Championship Final.
  5. The winners or top GBR team from the Ceilidh Cup (hosted by RN&CYC) may be invited to the Championship Final.
  6. The top Open GBR ISAF ranked and top Womens GBR ISAF ranked skippers from the July 2011 rankings list will be invited to attend the Championship Finals.
  7. The winner of the previous year’s RYA National Match Racing Championship Final will be invited to attend to defend their title.
  8. Further places in the Championship Final may be allocated as necessary, by the RYA in September.  We intend to have 12 teams in the Championship Final. To request a Wildcard please e-mail Jessica Beecher by the 1st September 2011.
  9. Teams winning a place at a qualifier will be expected to attend the Championship Final.
