Northampton Sailability Ready To Sail For Gold! 

Club celebrating start of Paralympic sailing event in style

Northampton Sailability will celebrate the start of the London 2012 Paralympic Sailing Regatta in style by hosting its own Sail for Gold Regatta at Pitsford Reservoir this Saturday (1 September).

Northampton Sailability is an established RYA Sailability site providing opportunities for disabled people to learn to sail and sail regularly as part of the national Sailability programme run by the sport’s national governing body, the RYA.

Club members and friends, disabled and able-bodied, will compete side-by-side for four races at the same time that Britain’s ParalympicsGB sailors get their London 2012 campaigns underway on the waters of Weymouth and Portland.

The regatta is taking place under the banner of ‘Sail for Gold’, the RYA’s nationwide London 2012 initiative celebrating Britain's unmatched Olympic sailing heritage and inspiring more people to get out on the water more regularly.

Around 200 people regularly sail with Northampton Sailability, with the club also working in partnerships with many local groups including Greenfield School, Corby Academy, HR Care, Henley Centre, The Fairway Centre, Solden Hill, Delos, Wren Spinney School, SENSE and Oakfield.

The club will also be presenting the trophies for their Summer Challenge series at the Sail for Gold Regatta as well as welcoming all members for a post-racing BBQ.
