Refresh your boating skills with the RYA Active Marina Experience at the PSP Southampton Boat Show

If you want to refresh your boating skills and pick up some top tips from expert instructors then sign up today for the RYA ‘Active Marina Experience’.

New for 2012, the Active Marina Experience will be providing free on the water and shorebased workshops throughout the PSP Southampton Boat Show (14-23 September 2012).

From man overboard drills and berthing manoeuvres to engine maintenance and radar operation, workshops will run each day and will provide you with some real hands-on experience.

The event is part of the RYA Active Marina programme which encourages boat owners to get more out of life with their boats by gaining the confidence and skills to leave their berths and get out on the water more often.

“We are delighted to be able to share the Active Marina Experience for the first time with visitors of the Southampton Boat Show. We know lots of people have signed up for the shorebased sessions already so we’d advise you book your place now” said RYA Yachting Development Officer Guy Malpas who has been instrumental in creating the programme.

“Active Marina workshops are tailor made to build the knowledge and boost the confidence of boaters of all abilities and we hope that those who participate will benefit hugely from the sessions”.

Places are very limited so it is highly recommended you book your session either in advance for the shore-based workshops or on the day for on-the-water sessions.

To book an on-water workshop visit the ‘Try-a-Boat’ booking point on stand A140, when you arrive at the show (on-water workshops cannot be booked in advance). Participants must be aged 16 or over.   Shorebased workshops can be booked in advance by emailing Bookings@which-marina.com or calling 01784 223816 or by visiting the Which Marina Stand (F004) at the show.

The RYA Active Marina Programme encourages and supports increased berth holder activity by partnering with marinas, RYA recognised training centres, berth holder groups and yacht clubs to establish or enhance a programme of training, cruising and social opportunities.
