Meet Treena Lombardo, Shopbop’s new fashion director. Treena spent 17 years working under some of Condé Nast’s top mastheads—Vogue, Jane, W, and Allure—before joining the Shopbop team, and we couldn’t be happier that she’s here. I stole a few minutes from Treena’s very busy schedule to learn more about her, what she has in store for Shopbop, and her plans for fashion’s biggest fête, Fashion’s Night Out.
Amie: First, tell me a little about how you got into fashion.
Treena: My grandmother was a really talented seamstress. She read Women’s Wear Daily, and she always had the paper out for us to look at when we came over. My mom also sewed clothes and had a great sense of style. I definitely got into fashion through the two of them.
Amie: What’s your favorite thing about working for Shopbop so far?
Treena: I love the pace, and how quickly everything moves here. I love all the people who work for Shopbop. I think it’s the smartest organization that I’ve ever worked for. And I love the Madison, Wisconsin, element. The company is so genuine.
[Editor’s note: Shopbop was founded in Madison, Wisconsin, and its corporate office and warehouse call the city home.]
Amie: What have you enjoyed working on most?
Treena: We’ve been working really, really hard to get the new site looking its best and creating a lot of stories for that. I’m excited that with the redesign we’ll have more opportunities to create great content for our Shopbop girl.
Amie: Are there any exciting collaborations coming up with any of your favorite designers?
Treena: I did a Weibo interview with Derek Lam last week, where we chatted live with some Chinese customers. That was great. I’ve known Derek for over ten years now, and I was really excited to work with him. Chris Benz is a good friend of mine, and we have an exciting project coming up with him as well. It’s all a lot of fun. Sometimes I can’t believe I get paid to do it.
Amie: Now, let’s talk Fashion’s Night Out, coming up in New York on September 6. What are you most looking forward to this year?
Treena: FNO is like the first day of school for fashion folks. I’m looking forward to seeing all of my industry friends, hearing about their summer vacations, and getting chummy again before the upcoming fashion month.
Amie: What are your must-stops for the night?
Treena: Bon Appetit is fêting Chris Benz, so that will definitely be one to hit. The Meatpacking District is going to be insane! The DVF store there will be a great stop for people-watching.
Amie: What’s your go-to FNO outfit?
Treena: I just bought my FNO T-shirt from Shopbop! I’m going to keep it simple and wear it with jeans and Ash wedge sneakers because it’s going to be impossible to get a cab, and heels and the subway just don’t mix.
Check out some of Treena’s picks.
