Joined by young sailing fans, Olympic Gold medallist Paul Goodison officially launched the Sail for Gold ‘Good Luck’ card competition this weekend (03 March) at the RYA Volvo Dinghy Show.
The competition offers youngsters aged between five and 16, a chance to win the once-in a-lifetime prize of personally wishing the British Sailing Team good luck in the lead up to the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
“All you have to do is design and create a good luck card which is creative, inspirational and will really give the sailors encouragement when they are out on the water and you could be visiting the 2012 Sail for Gold Regatta in June, to personally deliver your card to a member of Team GBR” explains Celia Edgington, Coordinator of the Sail for Gold programme.
Paul Goodison said: “I think it’s a fantastic competition and I can see we have already had heaps of brilliant entries this weekend. It’s really inspirational when you wake up during the Games to see all the messages of good luck on cards and postcards. The support means so much to the whole team”.
The competition is open to individual entries and will be judged in three age groups: 5-8, 9-12 and 13-16. Cards can be any size, shape and as inventive you like but must be able to be delivered in the post.
