Organisers of the Dextro Energy Triathlon ITU World Championship Series in London are on the look out for volunteers to help them run the 2010 event in Hyde Park over the weekend of July 24/25th.
The event, which is supported by the UK Sport World Class Events Programme, is part of a global series that attracts live TV audiences and big crowds. Last year's atmosphere at the Olympic venue for triathlon was amazing and included a big win on the home stage for reigning British world champion Alistair Brownlee.
The Dextro Energy Triathlon is a prestigious event which involves triathletes swimming in the Serpentine before testing themselves on the cycle and run courses through one of London's iconic Royal Parks and the venue for the 2012 Olympic Games.
In 2010, as well as the elite races, more than 3.000 triathletes will also take part in the mass participation age group races and there will be a paratriathlon for athletes with disabilities from all over the world.
“There are all kinds of roles that people can play”, said Robert Puestow of the event organising team at Upsolut Sports UK Ltd. “Everything is on offer from helping register athletes to marshalling the races to helping with spectator information. Not only will people experience the thrill of being involved in a big international televised event but they will gain some valuable skills and insights in the lead up to the 2012 Games”.
The 2010 event will see the women's elite race and the paratriathlon on Saturday 24th July, the men's elite race on Sunday 25th July with mass participation and other events also happening on both days. Volunteers are needed on both days.
