Job Description
Deliver the regional strategic direction for skills and kicking to ensure that players are given the opportunity to develop their potential at regional, premiership and/or national age grade development level, as defined by the Head Coach.
To include a degree of specialism for the coaching of tactical and technical skill as directed by the Head Coach (kicking).
Also to include a backs coaching role with Llanelli RFC in the Premiership throughout the season.

Key Responsibilities, Tasks and Activities
-
In conjunction with the Scarlets Head Coach and Regional Coaches provide both practical and theoretical sessions to individuals, units or teams within the performance pathway as required
-
To align with the National Coaches to deliver an agreed skills coaching philosophy on delivery (kicking) to the performance pathway squads at both Regional and National representative sessions

In conjunction with the WRU Regional Performance Development Manager, devise an evaluation process for all work undertaken with identified athletes
-
In conjunction with relevant Performance & Development staff, establish and agree world-class performance standards. Identify, analyse, monitor and develop the achievement of player programmes against these standards
-
Work closely with Regional organisations and clubs to provide skills coaching support to agreed indentified players within their Region/club environment

Assist the WRU Coach Development staff with the delivery of coach education and development programmes
-
The compilation and submission of reports in order to ensure that the coaching, development, performance plans, programs, schedules and philosophy are aligned to the those of the Regional and WRU Performance Pathway

Promote and reinforce the vision, mission, code of conduct and values, as per the Scarlets expectations both on and off the field

To be part of the Llanelli RFC Coaching group and deliver the structures and plays agree with the Head Coach
PERSON SPECIFICATION
EXPERIENCE
-
Minimum 3 years experience within the rugby coaching environment, this experience will have been gained in a practical environment and preferably at different levels of the game
-
Experience in the methodology and critique of research in sports science with the ability to put research into practice
-
Understanding and awareness of the issues facing high performance coaching and of the practical, educational, vocational and social needs of elite young players
-
Experience of setting clear goals, targets, measures and implementing action plans
-
Detailed knowledge and understanding of the structures and operations of Welsh Rugby from club to national level
Qualifications Required
-
WRU level 3 coaching award or equivalent
-
University sports science qualification/ related discipline or equivalent
-
Recognised awards in relevant areas such as kicking development and kicking strategies
-
Excellent IT Skills, specifically Microsoft Word, Excel & PowerPoint
-
Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential
