Great day for @TeamGB yesterday. What has been your best moment of the Games so far? #London2012 #CleanSport
UK Anti-Doping, the national anti-doping organisation for the UK, has a number of resources available to journalists reporting on anti-doping over the coming months.
Our London 2012 microsite has a dedicated media section, full of useful information for everyone from the novice to the anti-doping expert. Downloadable resources include fact sheets on testing, substances and other related areas, as well as images and an anti-doping glossary.
The new 2012 Anti-Doping Media Guide provides journalists on the go with essential anti-doping information, including an explanation of terms and substance profiles. To receive one or multiple copies of the guide, please send your name, address and position to turia.tellwright@ukad.org.uk. Alternatively, this guide is also available in pdf form to download from the website at http://www.ukad.org.uk/resources/document/2012-anti-doping-media-guide.
The organisation also has a number of anti-doping experts available for interview:
Andy has been Chief Executive of UK Anti-Doping since the organisation was formed in December 2009. Prior to this he worked at UK Sport as Director of Drug-Free Sport, where he managed the UK’s national anti-doping programme. Andy has worked in sport for more than 15 years, starting his career as Manager of Sport Services for Paralympics New Zealand. In 2003, he became Medical and Scientific Director at the International Paralympic Committee, before joining UK Sport as Head of Operations in 2006.
In May 2012, Andy was elected as Chair of the Ad hoc European Committee for the World Anti-Doping Agency (CAHAMA), effective from November 2012.
Nicole is responsible for the delivery of UK Anti-Doping’s testing programme, intelligence function and science and medicine portfolio.
Nicole has worked in anti-doping for 14 years, as Assistant to the Director and Legal Advisor at the Drug Control Centre at King’s College, and in various roles at UK Sport, where she progressed to Head of Operations before joining UK Anti-Doping in 2009.
Graham is responsible for managing both analytical and non-analytical results, consistent with the World Anti-Doping Code and UK National Anti-Doping Policy, and overseeing the Legal and Results Management sides of the organisation.
Graham has acted as an Advisor to the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) for a number of years. He also has considerable experience working with Government and law enforcement agencies on counterfeiting and piracy matters.
Nicola, an expert in strategic communication, joined UK Anti-Doping in 2011 to lead the UK’s doping prevention strategy. In the build up to the London 2012 Games, the focus has been on ensuring national and international athletes understand and respect the UK’s robust anti-doping programme and their responsibilities through the 100% me and Win Clean education campaigns.
