Online learning resource now available for coaches

Coach Clean, a new e-learning resource for sports’ coaches, is now available online. The education tool is designed to offer coaches essential information on their roles and responsibilities in relation to anti-doping.

Coach Clean has been developed in partnership with sports coach UK, ideally for UKCC level-2 coaching qualifications. The programme is nonetheless relevant to any coach working with all levels of athlete.

Previewed at the 2011 UK Coaching Summit, the online resource has been developed in light of research that showed the positive influence of coaches on today’s athletes. The programme covers topics from testing procedures to the anti-doping landscape, offering coaches an insight into how coaching style and environment can influence an athlete’s decision not to dope.

Upon completion, coaches will receive a certificate, which they can insert in their candidate portfolios for UKCC level 2 or CPD records as part of the licensing scheme.

UK Anti-Doping Education Manager Amanda Batt said: "The launch of Coach Clean is an exciting step in UK Anti-Doping's prevention strategy.

“We know that coaches and other support personnel play a vital role in influencing and supporting athletes through their careers. It is so important that we reach these core influencers so that they can in turn influence athletes and promote the values of clean sport.”

Coaches can sign up to Coach Clean via Skills Active. The course is available for an introductory offer of £15.00, increasing to £25.00 from 01 October 2012.
