UK Sport works in partnership to ensure medal success at Olympic and Paralympic Games

None of UK Sport’s responsibilities can be delivered in isolation, so UK Sport is committed to working with a range of sports and partner bodies within the nation’s high performance system. The common desire to maximise the impact of the Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2012 has done much to clarify the nation’s sporting landscape and the respective roles and responsibilities of each of the constituent bodies.

In particular, UK Sport has developed key partnerships with each of the national governing bodies of sport in which it invests. In support of those sports, their athletes, coaches and key practitioners, UK Sport actively works with the (External) English Institute of Sport and the other Home Country Sports Institutes ( (External) Scottish Institute of Sport , (External) Welsh Institute of Sport and (External) Sports Institute Northern Ireland ), the (External) British Olympic Association and (External) British Paralympic Association , together with other bodies such as (External) Sportsaid and the (External) Talented Athlete Scholarship Scheme , (External) sports coach UK , the (External) British Athletes’ Commission , (External) UK Anti-Doping and (External) Sports Resolutions UK .

Close relationships have also been forged with the (External) Youth Sports Trust and the Home Country Sports Councils ( (External) Sport England , (External) Sport Scotland , (External) Sports Council for Wales and (External) Sports Northern Ireland ) to help maximise opportunities to move from playground to podium.

UK Sport also creates strategic alliances – such as (External) Team 2012 (with (External) LOCOG , the (External) BOA and (External) BPA ) and International Inspiration (with (External) LOCOG , (External) UNICEF UK and the (External) British Council ) – as the need or opportunity arises to develop the high-performance system further.
