Tennis Tournament

This Year’s Regatta Tennis Tournament – the 44th – comprises both a Closed tennis tournament for players resident in the parishes of Dartmouth, Kingswear, Townstal, Strete, Stoke Fleming, Blackawton, Dittisham, Cornworthy, Morleigh and Halwell, or based at BRNC; and an Open Tournament, a Grade 4, supported by the Lawn Tennis Association, which attracts those British Tennis Members interested in accumulating ranking points.

There are in total 21 events run over the week long tournament.

The event is played on the courts on Coronation Park and at the Britannia Royal Naval College.
The Open Tournament will again be refereed by Linda Hill.

The tournament is sponsored by Dartmouth’s own Cafè Alf-Resco in association with Pro-Direct Tennis, the counties largest online retailer of tennis clothing and equipment.

The Closed Tournament

In an amended format for 2012 The Closed Tournament will commence on Friday24th August and runs on the Saturday and Sunday, with Finals on Saturday 1st September – events include Womens and Mens Singles; Womens, Mens and Mixed Doubles and Veterans Doubles events. There are also Under 16 Girls and Boys singles event, with a Consolation Event for early round losers. This tournament is rated LTA Grade 6.

The Open Tournament

The Open Tournament commences on Monday 27th August with Finals on Saturday 1st September - events include Womens and Mens Singles; Womens, Mens and Mixed Doubles; and Mens Veterans Singles and Veterans Womens, Mens and Mixed Doubles events.

A very popular Family Doubles is also on offer for an under 16 junior playing with a parent or grandparent. No excuse for Mums and Dads there!

Play commences daily at 9.30am and runs until 6pm, refreshments are available in a courtside marquee, and the Finals start at 10am on Saturday 1st September, with the trophy presentation at approx 4.30 in the afternoon. Spectators are welcome and we look forward to seeing you there.
