Shopbop Beauty: Perfect the Soft Glow

Our Facebook and Twitter feeds are constantly flooded with questions about our gorgeous models’ hair and makeup, so we decided to give the people what they want. In this new feature, our in-house make-up artists and hair stylists give you step-by-step instructions to recreate the looks you see in What’s New. For the inaugural post, how to perfect the soft glow.

Step 1: Prep Skin
Well-prepped skin is the key to an amazing face of makeup. Moisturize the skin and lips before applying your base.

Step 2: Eyes
To give eyes natural-looking definition, use two different shades of eye shadow from the same color family—in this case, bronze. Apply the lighter shade all over the lid, then layer the darker shade into the crease of your eye. Blend this darker shade down toward your lashes.

Step 3: Liner
To give lashes the illusion of thick fullness, draw a thin line at the upper lashes and then soften with a small, tight brush.

Step 4: Cheeks
For a golden glow and to enhance the skin, apply a peachy shade of pink to the apples of the cheeks. Finish with a touch of highlighter at the top of the cheeks.

Step 5: Lips
Keep the lips soft and pretty with a light pink gloss.

Step 6: Finished
Tousle hair and enjoy a naturally fresh and glowing look.

Oversized Link Band
The men’s-watch-for-women trend isn’t going anywhere (this writer is quite glad for that), and Michael Kors watches are, hands down, among the best in the bunch of metal-link timekeepers. Gold, silver, or rose gold, no wardrobe should be without one.

Classic Leather Band

Utilitarian Sport

6 Do's for Online Swim Shopping + Brand Guide

Bikini shopping. It sends a chill down the spine of even the fittest among us. Here, 6 do’s to make the process a little more pleasant.

DO be realistic about your body. The majority of us are not models, but we do know what fits us. Keep that in mind while browsing the different cuts and silhouettes.

DO buy multiple suits with the intention of returning the ones that don’t work. Swimwear shopping is a trial and error process, and chances are good you aren’t going to get it right the first time.

DO think about how you’re going to wear the suit(s) you choose. Are you swimming laps or sunbathing? Strolling through a summer music festival or playing beach volleyball?

DO try bright colors. Classic black is great, but a splash of Technicolor is so sweet with sun-kissed skin.

DO think about atmosphere when trying on your purchases:
    - Spend a few days with self-tanner or tanning lotion to give your skin a summer glow.
    - Choose a room with soft, forgiving lighting.
    - Pour yourself a glass of wine (or two).
    - Save the big meal for after the try-on session.

Introducing Jerome C. Rousseau

Music and entertainment play a key role in inspiring Quebec-born Jerome C. Rousseau’s eponymous footwear label. The designer started drawing shoes as a teenager after watching a Deee-Lite video, and today, based in LA, the entertainment industry’s influence is palpable: Rousseau’s shoes have become mainstays of the red carpet, and his designs were used as oversized props in The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus.

But this collection is not exclusively about celebrity appeal. Handcrafted in Italy using the finest techniques and leathers, it backs up its starry eyes with a luxurious, sensual aesthetic. “Shoes are real objects of seduction,” says the designer. “Women’s postures change when they wear a specific pair of shoes—their mood, their attitude, the way they present themselves.” Jerome C. Spring 2012 Runway: Yigal Azrouel

On his spring 2012 runway, Yigal Azrouël did what he does best: he made the trends of the moment feel utterly accessible. The designer struck a perfect balance between elegant and sexy, merging boxy angles and feminine silhouettes in a collection that is simultaneously contemporary and timeless. The hemlines stayed modest, with suggestive slits sprinkled in at just the right moments, and the color palette was a clean mix of bold primaries and easy neutrals.
