Loch Tummel

The Queen

The outstanding landscape of Loch Tummel is in an area designated a National Scenic Area (NSA). It's a narrow lake, 11 miles long and about one mile wide and forms part of the Tummel/Garry Hydro scheme with Clunie Dam at its eastern end.

Seen from the famous Queen's (Mary of Scots & Victoria) View it truly is a sight to behold. But indeed from any vista, whether it be the road along its northern edge with views across to Schiehallion (or "Fairy Mountain") to the south-west, or from the south side or from the gorge alongside the lower River Tummel, you cannot fail to be impressed.

You can see small settlements, Dunalastair estate and Fincastle House – affiliated to the Stewarts, duns and forts, cairn circles and standing stones.
