RYA supporting fundraising effort for terminally ill P1 SuperStock 150 racer

The RYA Powerboat Racing department has been deeply shocked by the news that P1 SuperStock 150 racer Martin Colligan (42, Jersey) has been diagnosed with terminal cancer

“I know many people know Martin well, others in passing and some not at all, but no matter how well you do or don’t know him I know everyone will be as shocked by this news.

“It was only back in September I last saw him when several of us were out until the small hours after the P1 SuperStock Awards Ceremony”, commented RYA Powerboat Racing Officer Nikki Drummond.

His condition has left him a far cry from the dominating force that won the first race at the P1 SuperStock finals in gruelling conditions in Liverpool just 12 weeks ago, so fundraising efforts are now underway to support Martin, who raced with the popular Team Fox.

Martin’s friends Paul Hamilton and Harry McRandle, business editor at the Jersey Evening Post, are the co-ordinators of the fund raising efforts.  Paul commented: “Martin is a true friend and a rare breed of man. Generous to a fault, he has helped many people throughout his life in so many ways. Now he desperately needs our help.”

The aim is to raise as much money as possible to enable Martin to enjoy the time he has left in peace and comfort, without having to worry about the financial constraints he is now faced with from having to stop working in a job he loved with Fox Marine.

If you are interested in making a donation then please contact, Paul Hamilton by email (pawhamilton@gmail.com) or phone on 07797 737211 or Harry McRandle (HMcRandle@jerseyveningpost.com ) on 07797 755158, who can provide you with the necessary details.
