River Glen
The River Glen rises to the east of Grantham and flows through peaceful Lincolnshire countryside famed for bulb growing. The non-tidal navigation of 11.5 miles begins at Tongue End, near Bourne and passes through several villages before merging with the River Welland at Surfleet Seas End.
Variously improved over the centuries, the Glen also exercises a drainage function for surrounding fields. Most of the channel upstream of Pinchbeck is shallow and suitable only for light craft. Beyond Surfleet the river becomes tidal.
