Ormesby Broad

Ormesby Broad is one of a group called the Trinity Broads, that lie on the northeastern section of Broadlands near Hemsby. The Muck Fleet Dyke links Lily, Filby, Rollesby and Ormesby Broads with the River Bure but is not navigable. The Norfolk Rare Breed Centre lies off the A149.

Like much of the Broads the area is rich in folklore. ‘But feare ye not if Thou'rt prepared to mete thy Godde' is part of an ancient legend describing the consummation by the Devil's flames of an Ormesby lady and her suitor for the sin of his profanity.
