NEWSLETTER

THE CAFE WILL BE CLOSED FROM MONDAY 2ND NOVEMBER, 2009 UNTIL MARCH 2010 (EXACT DATE TO BE ADVISED)

THE GATES WILL CLOSE BETWEEN THE HOURS OF 8PM - 7AM FROM MONDAY 2ND NOVEMBER, 2009 UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE

Please note - TOTAL SURFACE FISHING IS BANNED ON ALL LAKES - AS OUR TERMS & CONDITIONS

ALSO, BEFORE GOING ON TO THE FISHERY, YOU MUST (MUST) DIP YOUR LANDING NETS IN THE TANK BY THE SHOP DOOR - NO EXCUSES WHATSOEVER WILL BE ACCEPTED

PICTURE THE SCENE – (Wednesday 19th August, 2009) We have been up since 5.30am and at 7.15pm (our gates close at 9.00pm), we are just sitting down to tea when two cars enter the car park and a crowd of people get out.  After a few minutes one heads towards the toilets and we assume that they have read the rules and are coming to see us, but no, he joined them again and then, complete with rods just walked on to the fishery and headed for the Specimen Lake (observing no rules whatsoever).  I obviously went out to see them, as we did not know who they were or what they intended.  Our Rules & Regulations are there to protect our fish and fishery and these were blatantly ignored – the three main rules are on the gate and read “No ticket – no fishing, No dipping landing net – no fishing and No unhooking mat – no fishing”.  I went over to them and insisted they return to the car park and I explained what they had not done and that if they had a landing net with them (which they should have) they had not dipped it and if they had been fishing elsewhere that may have had a virus like KHV, they could wipe our fishery out.  They said they were going to come back and get a ticket (our rules do not offer this option), also they did not have the right gear for the Specimen Lake, but no, apparently this was all my fault and I was being unreasonable, they had fished here before (so surely they would be aware of the rules!) and they would not listen to anything I was saying to them and then said I was getting agitated – but they just would not listen.  I said this was private property and they said that no, it was a public fishery – no this is a private fishery open to the public (we reserve the right to refuse admission).   I was then told I had lost a fortune by not letting them fish (how is this teaching children that there are Rules & Regulations for a reason, when the adults think it is acceptable to ignore them), and because they could not fish I had upset the children, so again this was my fault – is it really acceptable that their actions could ruin our business, would you honestly let someone’s actions ruin your business?
If you read this and feel in any way that this group were in the right, then please do not visit our fishery- we have not spent 7 years and a considerable amount of time and money improving the fish, fishery, grounds and facilities to have people abuse it.
If you apprecite that Rules & Regulations are there to protect our fishery and are there for a good reason, then we welcome you to fish at Milton Pools.

UP TO DATE INFORMATION REGARDING BAITS - Magnum Baits are pleased to announce that from the 1st April 2009 they have introduced a new addition to their range of baits, to Milton Pools, called "Red Rum", which is available as a freezer bait and pop-up (available in 12mm, 14mm, 16mm, 18mm & 20mm), and also a dip/bait soak. As people are aware Winter Wonder and Savoury Cream have been one of our most favoured baits on the lakes and we have high expectations for this new bait, as this has been made especially as a Spring bait and has been produced using high quality ingredients.
