2011 Council Elections

Nominations are invited for election to the RYA Council to take effect from the AGM on Wednesday 23 November 2011.

This year the RYA is looking to appoint five new members to Council, the Association's senior policy-making body, replacing those Council members retiring after their three-year tenure.

The Council is made up of 40 members and the five new members will be part of a 12 strong team responsible for representing the interests of personal and life members.

The RYA Council is reponsible for the Association's different activities and areas of interest.  Its primary responsibility is to agree and oversee the implementation of RYA strategy and specific Association-wide policy.

If you are a personal or life member of the RYA and feel you would like to play a part in the future of your Association then we would like to hear from you.  All candidates must be proposed and seconded by personal or life members. Election to the RYA Council will take effect from the RYA's AGM.

The Council meets 4 times a year on Wednesday afternoons, normally in London.  Travel expenses are paid for attendance.

If the number of candidates exceeds the number of vacancies a ballot paper will be circulated to all personal members and the result announced at the AGM.

You will find the nomination form to the right of this page.  Please complete and return it to the Chief Executive by Wednesday 28 September 2011.  If you have any queries please contact either Jude Rose on 023 8060 4103 (e-mail jude.rose@rya.org.uk) or Ann Chewins on 023 8060 4109, (e-mail ann.chewins@rya.org.uk ) in the Chief Executive’s Office.
