Regulation will raise online prices and may slow innovation
Regulators will increasingly seek to regulate e-commerce; their focus, rightly, is consumer protection, but their actions always have a knock on effect that is not always positive for consumers. If the European Commission has its way and gets a Europe-wide trustmark scheme for online shopping implemented, then compliance costs, up front and ongoing, will fall on e-commerce merchants who in turn must pass the costs onto their customers.

Welcome to another Merchant Monday! Again we will be featuring a series of Merchants who have recently gone live with SecureTrading.
The first Merchant to feature is Lucy Cooks cookery school. As the name suggests Lucy cooks is a cookery school. Situated in Staveley Mill Yard, near Kendal in Cumbria, The Lake District offer a whole range of individual one day practical courses and distinctly different demonstrations, designed to suit everyone from novice to Nigella – ‘a course for all reasons and all seasons’ as the website claim! Monday means only one thing for us at SecureTrading – Merchant Monday blog post! For new readers of the blog Merchant Monday is a weekly feature which we bring to your attention a selection of SecureTrading merchants who have gone live in the last week.

Merchant Monday time again! The weekly feature where we put the spotlight on some our Merchants that have gone live with us.
One of the Merchants that went live with us last week is Rumpusresort.com, a luxury designer boutique stocking the latest swimwear and resort wear for a glamorous holiday wardrobe. After another break due to the Bank Holiday we are back with Merchant Monday! For those of you not familiar with Merchant Monday it’s a weekly feature which we bring to your attention a selection of SecureTrading merchants who have gone live in the last week.

Cookie Law Update
You may remember our previous blog on the upcoming European Directive on the use of cookies. The law applies to how you use cookies and similar technologies for storing information on a user’s equipment such as their computer or mobile device is changing on 26 May 2011.
In preparation for this the Information Commissioner has issued a new document that sets out these changes and explains what steps you need to take now to ensure you comply.
It is aimed at those organisations which are starting to think about how they will comply with the new rules. It is a starting point forgetting compliant rather than a definitive guide.
