NICGC Table Quiz - Friday 19th August 
 
The Northern Ireland Commonwealth Games Council will be hosting a quiz night on Friday 19th August at Newforge Country Club. This is open to those involved with the 2011 Youth Games, members of the 2010 Delhi team, affiliated governing bodies, former Games competitors and the wider sporting communiity. Whether an occasion for a reunion, a chance to test your grey matter or to simply support the work of the Council, we'd love to welcome you along. Admission is just £10, payable at the door, wiith all proceeds going towards the support of our young athletes who will compete in the Isle of Man. Teams can be as large as your table!! 
July 6th - Team announced for Youth Games 
 
The NICGC has announced a team of 18 young athletes who will represent Northern Ireland at the Commonwealth Youth Games, which take place in the Isle of Man in September. Those selected are:

June 6th - Wrestling success in Sardinia 
Northern Ireland wrestler Mark Montgomery has picked up a medal at the recent European Cup event in Sardinia, collecting a bronze behind Romanian and Russian opposition. Although representing GB in this particular 22 nation competition, Mark can be seen above in his NI tracksuit!  
June 1st - Luke Carson chats to the BBC 
Team Northern Ireland gymnast Luke Carson has been busy since his exploits at the Delhi Games and is now looking forward to the qualification process for the London Olympics. He's currently back home training at Salto in Lisburn where he spoke with the BBC. The full interview can be viewed HERE
May 20th - Successful AGM held 
The Annual General Meeting of the Northern Ireland Commonwealth Games Council took place last Monday with presentation of the usual officers' reports and financial statements. It was great to see all of our member sports in attendance and we look forward to the next Executive Committee meeting to be held on Monday 6th June. May 3rd - Sycerika leads the way with 9 Golds! 
Commonwealth Games eligible swimmers enjoyed a successful weekend at the recent Irish long Course Championships held at the National Aquatic Centre in Dublin. Sycerika McMahon led the way with an incredible total of nine Golds, across three stokes and the two IM. Melanie Nocher collected four medals across all three colours and also attained the qualifing standard for July's World Championships in Shanghai. Conor Donnelly dominated the longer distances with victories over 400m, 800m and 1500m while Michael Dawson was the premier breast stroker with wins over 50m and 100m. Others to travel home with Golds in their pockets were Luke Campbell, Beth Carson, Laurence McGivern and the relay squads from Bangor. Among others to medal was young Curtis Coulter who had to settle for two Silvers on this occasion. Full results from the weekend are available HERE.  
March 25th - Another World Title for Wendy! 
Wendy Houvenaghel continued her fine streak of form yesterday when she guided the GB Team Pursuit squad to Gold at the Cycling World Track Championships in Apeldoorn, Holland. The Team Northern Ireland rider added to her Commonwealth Games silver medal, teaming up with debutants Laura Trott and Dani King to deliver a commanding performance in the final, beating the American team by almost two seconds. This was Wendy's third World title and is a promising sign looking to London 2012 and beyond.
