Course Overview
Log sea miles, while gaining a feeling for life afloat, in preparation for UKSA career training programmes. Experience the thrills of yachting, including night sailing, navigating out of sight of land and crew work.
Weather permitting, yachts on a Yachting Orientation itinerary may travel to the northern coast of France, the Channel Islands or the SW Coast of England, making good use of the challenging conditions created by the tides and busy shipping lanes.
Pre-requisite experience
None required
Syllabus:
- Build miles in your logbook prior to a UKSA professional career training course
- Essential crew work, basic maintenance and care of vessel
- Visit a number of ports making both daytime and night pilotage entries to harbours
- Basic introduction to navigation and safety afloat
Qualifications
Each course is planned to cover a minimum of 300-500 miles, although actual mileage is weather dependent.
Notes
Most of our Yachting Orientation takes place on either our larger 67ft yachts or our 39-45ft yachts.
