The Czech National Bank, (Czech: Česká národní banka, ČNB) is the central bank and financial market supervisor in the Czech Republic with its headquarters in Prague. The Bank's governor is Miroslav Singer. In accordance with its primary objective, the CNB sets monetary policy, issues banknotes and coins and manages the circulation of currency, the payment system and settlement between banks. It also performs supervision of the banking sector, the capital market, the insurance industry, pension funds, credit unions and electronic money institutions, as well as foreign exchange supervision.
The first independent banking system, in what is now the Czech Republic, was The Banking Office of the Ministry of Finance. The bank was established in 1919, due to the development of a new state. When the kingdom of Bohemia ceased to exist in 1918, the creation of Czechoslovakia called for a new central bank and currency. Czechoslovakia, which was the only democratic government in central and Eastern Europe before World-War II, located the main headquarters of the bank in Prague.

Rusnok was born in Ostrava-Vítkovice. He studied at the University of Economics in Prague, graduating in 1984.

Ani další oslabení eura vůči dolaru, které by s sebou stáhlo i českou korunu, by ČNB nevedlo ke změně současného intervenčního režimu. V exkluzivním rozhovoru pro Investiční web to minulý týden, ještě před zveřejněním dat o inflaci a prudkým oslabením koruny, uvedl člen bankovní rady ČNB Jiří Rusnok.

Read the full story at: http://czechstories.com Or let us set the scene a little... "The campfire snaps, firing up bursts of orange into the night sky, throwing shadows across the dark outline of our teepee and the woods behind. A short distance to my right, through a curtain of trees, I can hear the white noise of the beer-brown river flowing downstream. From somewhere there is the sound of a guitar being strummed. “Rafting is strange, isn’t it?” Says Martin, an English student from Prague as he pours himself a drink and stares into the flames. “My muscles hurt because I’m not used to the movement, but on the other hand I’m totally calm. I’m exhausted physically,...

Standing in a shadow of true love Wishing that the
other side would really be gone
Hoping for the worst that would be best for me Hoping
that the other side would never see
That I´m Fallen to gutter of long dark road Running to
harbour for long gone boat
Buried in six feet of cold hard soil Trying to keep it
real
When I´m with you Im here and everywhere
But my heart is somewhere else I will try to make it
last
Heartache will soon be past Pick your number next in
line
Maybe now I will be fine NOT
Waiting for the bullet to split my head Maybe then I
would be fine when buried and dead
Nothing really changes the way I feel It´s like now I
don´t have soul, but my body will stay
And I´m fallen to gutter of long dark road Running to
harbour for long gone boat
Buried in six feet of cold hard soil Trying to keep it
real
When I´m with you I´m here and everywhere
But my heart is somewhere else I will try to make it
last
Heartache will soon be past Pick your number next in
