Stern first wished to be on the radio at five years of age. He landed his first radio jobs while at Boston University—WTBU, the campus station, and WNTN in Newton, Massachusetts. From 1976 to 1982, Stern developed his on-air personality through morning positions at WRNW in Briarcliff Manor, New York, WCCC in Hartford, Connecticut, WWWW in Detroit, Michigan, and WWDC in Washington, D.C. Stern worked afternoons at WNBC in New York City from 1982 until his firing in 1985.
In 1985, Stern began a 20-year run at WXRK in New York City, where his show was syndicated to 60 markets and attracted 20 million listeners. Stern won numerous awards, including Billboard’s Nationally Syndicated Air Personality of the Year eight times. He became the most fined radio host when the Federal Communications Commission issued fines totaling $2.5 million to station licensees for content it deemed indecent. Stern became one of the highest paid radio figures after signing a five-year deal with Sirius in 2004 worth $500 million. In recent years, Stern took up photography and has had work featured in Hamptons and WHIRL magazines. From 2012 to 2015, he served as a judge on America's Got Talent.
Howard Stern is an American radio personality who is best known for his radio show The Howard Stern Show. Stern (along with his followers) describes himself as the "King of All Media" for his successes in the radio, television, film, music and publishing industries.
On April 16, 1987, a meeting was held between Stern and management of WNYW, the flagship television station of Fox Broadcasting Company. The network was considering Stern as a replacement to The Late Show hosted by Joan Rivers in its 11:00 PM hour. Five one-hour pilots titled The Howard Stern Show were recorded at a cost of about $400,000. They featured rock guitarist Leslie West of Mountain fame as bandleader and Steve Rossi as announcer and singer. By early June, air dates were yet to be scheduled; the pilots were instead being tested among focus groups in California. With no formal announcement, the network cancelled the series in July. Paul Noble, the former executive producer for WNYW, was never told of Fox's decision. "By today's standards, they were absolutely tame." He also said, "They were not the kind of thing that a local New York television station was prepared to get involved with at that time. It was more like off-the-wall radio."

When she fought for the Marshall's fortune, Stern presented her direct examination at the trial. Stern's law firm was dissolved around the time he became a co-star on The Anna Nicole Show (2002 - 2004). Stern maintained an apartment in Santa Monica, California, from which he operated a business called Hot Smoochie Lips, Inc., a talent agency that had Anna Nicole Smith as a client.
I WENT THE GAY WAY...By The Backside Boys
(Listed below are the lyrics to Howard Stern's
song parody of the Backstreet Boys'
"I Want It That Way", which was first performed on 9/27/99)
Opening Music
Howard Stern singing:
This song.. makes me cry, makes me crave.. a man's backside.
Every time I hear this dumb song played, I feel like I'm gay.
I watch.. the telly While Ralph.. shaves my belly.
People wonderin' if I'm still straight.. am I going gay?
Get K-Y.. this song makes my butt ache.
Need a Guy.. homo love could be a mistake.
Get K.Y...Men's backside's are a dirty place.
Could I go the gay way?
Fred Norris singing:
Jackie.. bend ooover, and bark loud.. like Ro-ver..
Would K.C. be my love sla-ave? If I went the gay way.
Howard Stern singing:
Get K-Y!.. I'm singin' like a sissy.
Get K-Y!.. Ralph come and see my butt cheeks.
Get K-Y!.. I'm thinkin' 'bout the ballet
Could I go the gay way?
Fred Norris singing:
Will there be pain, man I can not explain, what's coming over me?
If I start to resist, please don't use fist, or I might need some surgery!
Howard Stern singing:
I watch.. the telly.. while Ralph.. shaves my belly.
Homo.. homo.. homo.. homo.. homo.. With every passing day!
Howard Stern singing:
Get K-Y!.. Would I like to see a sphincter?
Get K-Y!.. No smell is more distincter!
Get K-Y!.. I wonder what my wife would say!
If I went the gay way.
Get K-Y!.. I really Need a Sphincter
Get K-Y!.. No smell is more distincter
Get K-Y!.. I wonder what my wife would say
If i went the gay way
Get K-Y!..Sphincter, Sphincter, Sphincter, Sphincter
Get K-Y!..Di stincter, stincter, stincter
Get K-Y!..I wonder what my wife would say
If i went the gay way
