Train station

A train station, railway station, railroad station, or depot (see below) is a railway facility where trains regularly stop to load or unload passengers or freight.

It generally consists of at least one track-side platform and a station building (depot) providing such ancillary services as ticket sales and waiting rooms. If a station is on a single-track line, it often has a passing loop to facilitate traffic movements. The smallest stations are most often referred to as "stops" or, in some parts of the world, as "halts" (flag stops).

Stations may be at ground level, underground, or elevated. Connections may be available to intersecting rail lines or other transport modes such as buses, trams or other rapid transit systems.

Terminology

In the United States, the most common term in contemporary usage is train station. Railway station and railroad station are less frequent; also, American usage makes a distinction between the terms railroad and railway.

In Britain and other Commonwealth countries, traditional usage favours railway station or simply station, even though train station, which is often perceived as an Americanism, is now about as common as railway station in writing; railroad station is not used, railroad being obsolete there. In British usage, the word station is commonly understood to mean a railway station unless otherwise qualified.

Plot

When a mysterious train accident forces a man to change his plans, he is confronted with a series of choices, some big, some small. Each decision he makes leads to a different scenario, each one filmed by a different director with a different cast. TRAIN STATION is a film about possibilities and choices. Filmed in 25 countries, 40 filmmakers collaboratively wrote and are assembled it online via the CollabFeature platform.

Train Station (OC Transpo)

Train Station is a station on Ottawa's Transitway. It is a bus stop on the Transitway bus rapid transit system that is connected to Ottawa's main railway station, and not itself a train station.

The City of Ottawa has plans to construct a pedestrian overpass over the Queensway highway, linking the station to nearby employment areas and to the Ottawa Baseball Stadium. It is unclear what impact the departure of the Ottawa Lynx baseball club in 2007 will have on the project.

The station will become an O-Train station on the Confederation Line after 2018 and the name will be changed to Tremblay.

Effective 28 June 2015, the main Transitway platforms are closed for Confederation Line construction. As well, the Transitway between Hurdman Station and Blair Station is closed until 2018, meaning routes either end at Blair Station or Hurdman Station, or travel via Ottawa Road 174 toward downtown. Service to Ottawa Train Station during this period is provided by routes 92 and 96 on Tremblay Road.
