The Paralympics have officially opened in Paris.

Madison de Rozario and Brenden Hall led the Australian athletes through the city.

The games will run until September 9.

Tens of thousands of people have marched in protest against the forced administration of the construction arm of the CFMEU. 

The Construction, Forestry and Maritime Employees Union (CFMEU) was forced into administration by the federal government.

A 2,492-carat diamond has been discovered in Botswana.

It's the second-largest example of the stone ever found.

Its value is yet to be determined, based on characteristics like colour and clarity.
