AITAH for missing my sisters wedding due to having just given birth?

My due date is a couple days before my sisters wedding.

When I (22 female) announced my unplanned pregnancy my sister (24 female) and I didn’t talk for many weeks because she was incredibly upset that I was ruining her wedding. Her big day that’s supposed to be all about her, and I was ruining that by having a baby. She even asked me if I was planning on getting an abortion-no doubt because that’s what she wanted me to do so it didn’t interfere with her wedding. I felt very resentful about being pregnant and felt like I was the bad person even though that’s far beyond correct. It took me a very very long time to feel happy about being pregnant and having a baby. Overtime she got over it and is happy now to have a nephew.

But now as time is approaching I’ve had to have the conversations with my sister about me likely not being able to attend the wedding. I was essentially pushed to request a membrane sweep at 38 weeks so that I could attend the wedding. And told to drink castor oils and all these other things that would cause me to go into labor much earlier. At that time I was thinking “oh good idea” (NOT the castor oil, I know that’s horrible) but after speaking with friends they opened my eyes and made me realize that it’s sad that I am feeling the need to essentially force labor and give birth sooner than I would naturally JUST to attend the wedding and appease my sister AND mother (that’s a whole other story regarding my mother), and that they are being selfish.

I have told my mom and sister that even if I were to give birth two weeks before the wedding, I will still likely not be able to go because I will be strictly breastfeeding and my partner and I do not want to take a newborn baby to a large gathering of 80 people or so. Plus, I will still be recovering and figuring out how to be a parent. So my newborn baby would not be attending which means I shouldn’t be attending because he will need me for feedings. And I will not formula feed for one day just so I can appease my sister and mom. My baby will be strictly breastfed.

They then said “oh just come for the ceremony at least and then leave” but it’s a 45 minute drive there without traffic, 45 min drive back, and a ceremony that will be at least 30 minutes. That’s two hours that I will be gone from my baby who will likely still be cluster feeding and feeding on demand.

And if I go into labor on my due date, or a couple days before, OR go over my due date, the last thing I will be doing is spending hours at a large social gathering.

I have been told over and over again that I will never be forgiven if I do not attend the wedding and that my sister will be incredibly mad. I understand she wants me at the wedding. I want to be at the wedding. But there are so many circumstances that will hinder me from going and I just wish that was understood. I just want my decisions about my wellbeing and my babies to be respected.

I have been made to feel incredibly bad about this all and people around me tell me I am not TAH for not going. But my mother and sister are making me feel like no matter what, I need to be there. Also, my mother wanting me to come I believe solely is for the reason that she can see her grandchild or as she says “her baby” (again, a whole other story).

I’d love advice or input on this whole situation. I just don’t know what to do.

Would you stay with a husband who says he would choose his job over you?

My husband (42m) and I (40f) have been married for 17 years and have 4 teenagers. He started a company 15 years ago that's very successful. I've been a SAHM. Recently we've been having problems. He told me that his company is more important to him than me. And that if he had to choose, he'd choose the company. We have a generally good relationship, get along well, don't fight. We have great kids and plenty of money and a beautiful home. BUT he has always put work first, and I'm getting tired of it. He told me work will always come first. And if he had to choose, he chooses work. Is this worth divorce? What would you do? Edit to add: specifically, he said if it came down to it, he'd rather find a different wife than a different job (not because he loves what he does, he doesn't). He said it a few weeks ago, but I brushed it off. Asked again recently if he truly meant it, and he said yes.

AIO? My boyfriend is allowing his ex to come on our anniversary trip.

My boyfriend 21M is bringing his friend to our anniversary trip. It’s in Oct, and we’re leaving for Greece. He invited his friend without me knowing. His friend is bringing my boyfriend’s ex.

Let’s call my boyfriend Gary. Let’s call Gary’s ex, Kaylee.

Gary’s friend ran it through Gary first. The friend asked if it was okay to bring Kaylee. Gary said yes. Kaylee asked Gary if I was okay with her coming. Gary said yes.

Gary also mentioned to her “it doesn’t matter if my girlfriend has a problem. She can get over it.”

I’m livid. I’m confused. I’m disappointed. I’m distraught.

I am not comfortable with Kaylee going. I’m not even comfy with Gary’s friend going. This was supposed to be to be our anniversary vacation! He has invited 2 people to go with us. Gary is calling me insecure and childish for not wanting Kaylee to be there.

Am I being crazy? Kaylee has never spoken to me however she talks to Gary a lot. Gary tries to reassure me that he won’t speak to her while we’re in Italy. However… we’re sharing an Airbnb. He refuses to tell Kaylee that she can’t come. It’s like he WANTS her there.

AIO? Or should I just let her come?

Dad and his girlfriend broke up 2 months before my wedding, now IDK what to do

I (45 f) and my fiance (44 m) are getting married in 2 months. My dad (68 m) and his girlfriend (52 f) have been together for 20 years. They never married but she's been like a step mom to me and we've gotten pretty close. My dad and I have had a strained relationship for a large part of my life and if it weren't for her I honestly don't even know where my relationship with my dad would be right now. Last summer they had some problems but were able to work them out. My dad just told me they have now separated and he moved out. I don't want to be selfish, but I do want her at my wedding. She's been a part of my like for a long time. But I also don't want to make my dad uncomfortable. The invites went out over a month ago and she's already replied yes. On another note, my dad was planning on giving us money towards the wedding, now I don't know if he'll be able to do that since he's moved out.

I'm so stressed and confused right now. Do I leave it up to her to decide if she wants to change to a decline? Should I un-invite her? Do I leave it up to my dad? What do we do if he can't give us the money we were planning on paying the venue with? We have to have it paid off in a month. I need advice and probably 3 margaritas.

My MIL is commenting on our unborn child’s looks, and already ignoring our boundaries

My MIL is commenting on our unborn child’s looks, and already ignoring our boundaries

This is more of a vent because I’m just in shock at how things have unfolded with my MIL recently, and I wonder if anyone has ever had a similar experience. Also I love hearing other people’s family drama so hopefully someone else can at least get some entertainment out of what I have to deal with haha.

I am 36 weeks pregnant and had my baby shower last weekend. My MIL lives in a different state, but made a trip out to attend the shower. My husband is not very close with her, so we don’t talk often but I’ve made an effort to text her updates about my pregnancy and keep her in the loop.

At my baby shower, everyone played a game where people were given questions about our baby/parenting and had to guess what my husband’s and my answers were. For example, “Who suggested the baby’s name? Mom or Dad?”. One of the questions was “Who will baby look more like? Mom or Dad?” My husband and I picked that we think our daughter will look more like him. We did a 3D scan where we could see baby’s face and we think she has a lot of his features, and her nose is identical to my husband’s when he was a baby (at least that we can see from the scan). We think she looks darling from the scan.

When it was time to go through the answers to the quiz and I revealed that we think baby girl will look more like my husband, my MIL said in front of everyone, “Oh, poor girl. That’s so sad if she’ll look like my son. At least she can get a rhinoplasty.” For context, my husband is part Ashkenazi Jew from his dad’s side, and does have a bigger nose. I was in shock that she made that comment, especially in front of all of my friends and family, but we moved on with the game. It was one of those moments where I look back and wish I would’ve said something in the moment, because after the baby shower I got in my car and cried on the phone to my husband because I was so hurt by her comment. Not because I believe it to be true, but because I think it’s beyond cruel to comment on a baby’s looks (and she’s not even here!!! We don’t even know what she actually looks like yet!!), let alone make that comment to the mother of that child and you are the grandma!! I’m worried that she will continue to make comments on her looks once she’s here and older, because she comments on everyone’s looks in a pretty judgmental way.

My husband was also very upset about his mom’s comments, and he called her after the shower to ask her about it once I got home. She doubled down and said that the 3D scans are just freaky, and she wasn’t saying she won’t be cute, just that she didn’t like the scan. My husband told her that her comment was extremely rude and disrespectful, no matter the intent behind it.

Then the conversation shifted because my MIL said she overheard me talking to a friend about how we are going to ask everyone to not kiss our baby once she’s born. She said that she was extremely upset to hear that, and that kissing babies is instinctual and necessary for her to build up an immune system. My husband said that both of those things are not true, and that we are firm on that boundary. She then said, “Well, you’ll have to keep a close eye on me with the baby if you don’t want me kissing her.” At that point my husband said if that’s the case, visits will be revoked. The call ended soon afterwards, and I’m still just shocked about her behavior.

Has anyone else had these types of experiences with in laws? Am I right to be upset by all of this? I’m just glad my husband and I are on the same side and in this drama having each other’s back. Also is it too much of me to start thinking about bringing up going no contact in the future if this behavior continues?
