Cookie Policy

When you visit an OpenEdition website, information may be stored in cookies saved in your browser. This page describes the principles and details of the cookies that may be stored, and explains how you can accept or reject those that are not essential to the operation and management of the site.

What is a cookie?

A cookie is a text file containing small amounts of information (e.g., an identifier, a choice of language, the name of the server, and possibly an expiration date). It may be stored temporarily on your computer’s hard drive.

A cookie can either be a session cookie or a permanent (or persistent) cookie.

A session cookie persists only during the browsing session and is deleted when the browser is closed. A permanent cookie is stored for a given period of time. This type of cookie remains in the terminal until it expires or until it is deleted from the computer via the browser settings or extensions.

The cookie does not identify you personally, only the browser of your terminal. Some cookies require your consent before being installed on your terminal.

What are cookies used for?

These cookies cannot be deactivated or configured, otherwise you will no longer be able to access the site, the site’s services and/or alter its display. They allow you to use the main features of the site and to secure your connection. The deposit of these cookies does not require your consent. Their lifetime generally does not exceed the session duration.

Functional cookies

These cookies are necessary for the proper functioning of the site. The deposit of these cookies does not require your prior consent. These cookies allow:

  • To produce anonymous statistics on the number of visitors accessing and using the site in order to help the editor manage and improve said site.

  • To adjust the presentation of the site to the display preferences of your terminal (language used, display resolution, operating system used, etc.) during your visits, according to the hardware and software used by your terminal.
