  • How many ender3s do you own? And how many printers in general? • How many ender3s do you own? And how many printers in general?

Since Dr. Girlfriend asked, am I the only guy doing this or is this a common trend here? How many ender3s do you own?

I went second printer by accident when a friend of mine gave me his ender 3pro because he was not able to dial it in. Since I love to tinker and my first printer was an already heavily modded ender2 that I got second hand with two plastic shopping bags full of unknown filament, I was used to sorrow and thought all 3D printers were created equal. Thus, first sending you down into the valley of toil and tears before they, if ever, print as you wish.

Enter the ender3: After fixing the bed levelling and a thorough setup and check of all screws plus harder springs and a move of the z-endswitch, I was up and printing after two hours. Resetting the z-axis extrusions to be parallel cured the only real issue the printer had apart from misadjusted rollers.

The same experience as with my first ender3, that one printed out of the box, no hassles. The only thing that needed to be rectified by me were scale issues, as it seems, x,y are always dead nuts, z gives me an error in the 2% range.

    Why do I do it?

    • I like the backup option.

    • I like it to be able to print with two different filaments at once.

    • I like troubleshooting with two dialed in similar printers, being able to swap parts back and forth.

    • I like it that one printer drags the second one along concerning mods after testdriving them and both printers are spiraling upwards, both in SW and HW.

    • I like that there is a huge market for original parts from people that drop out of the hobby and bought half a printer as spares, plus a pallet full of exotic filaments, unloading te stuff on me for cents instead of euros.

When a friend or colleague asks me about 3d printing (lately, also strangers do) and how to start, I send them out to buy an used ender3 on ebay, a roll of fresh PETG in a crisp color and an afternoon of spare time to spend dialing it in with me. Next, I force them to download Fusion360, do a youtube training and then I leave them to their bleak fate...

How do you guys and gals handle this?

ender 3 is messed up like crazy, can't find solution • ender 3 is messed up like crazy, can't find solution

i have a basic ender 3, and the first thing I printed on it was the print that's on the microsd card when you first receive it. it worked (didn't print entirely because I didn't have enough filament) and everything was fine. i got a little excited and prematurely put on a software that needed a bl touch, not knowing I NEEDED the bl touch to use it. so, I reverted the update after letting the printer sit for about 6 months, and then now it won't let me home it. i can't move the x, y, or z axis around, and everytime I press the home button, it just gives me the "homing failed printer halted please reset" error. nothing on it should be bad, no wires should be unplugged or messed with, and I made sure nothing was loose cause I went through the connectors and pushed them in just in case. I'm not sure what to do and nothing on youtube gives me an answer for a regular creality ender 3. what do I do?

Questions about updating an old Ender 3 be updated to use a direct drive • Questions about updating an old Ender 3 be updated to use a direct drive

    Hi

I have an Ender 3 that I changed the bowden extruder to an sprite direct drive, after that i could not print, filament comes out very slowly that the hot end starts going up and not printing anything
If I select the extrude option from the machine, it extrudes very well

I have changed the flow on cura from 100 to 150%, decreased retraction from 3 to 0.5, but still the same

I started searching for an answer, one of the options is to update the firmware, I found my motherboard is a V1.1.3. can it be upgraded to a new marlin firmware?

or will a new motherboard be compatible with my old printer?
Is there any other option that I have?
