A FRISIAN QUATRAIN IN ALL LANGUAGES What a great idea - put up a poem in Frisian on a website and invite
visitors to translate it into their own languages! This is the brain-child
of Geart fan der Mear / Geart van der Meer at the University of Groningen.

"Dutch art historian Kees Kaldenbach and a team from the Polytechnic of
Delft have bult a virtual 3-D model of the golden age city using only drawings
by Vermeer and four of his contemporaries. You can explore their work via five
short downloadable movies. Each takes a static drawing as its starting point.
The camera dives into the pictures, swooping past boats and under bridges into
the heart of Vermeer's Delft. Everything is rendered in original pen and ink:

Nationaal Bevrijdingsmuseum Situated in Groesbeek, close to Nijmegen, this museum commemorates the
liberation of Holland from the Nazi occupation. There are temporary as well as
permanent exhibits. The chapel is shaped like a parachute and contains a
section for every regiment which fought in Holland. My Dad found a list of all
his former comrades who died in the war. When I last visited, there was an
opportunity for children to write a message on a paper leaf and add it to a tree
of remembrance and hope for the future. There were messages in all languages,
forming a living and truly moving exhibit.
