Well I had never heard of Jerry Butler until I moved down to Florida and my buddy Antonio from Rocket Star Record store had acquired the rest of an old stores collection having these three vinyl.  Then not long ago, I found all these VHS at Goodwill for a PBS (Public Broadcasting Service) old TV special in at least 8 parts based out of Pittsburgh (I live by the Pirates spring training field so maybe that is why I got lucky and found this stuff) hosted mainly by Jerry Butler.  He has been around since the 50's in music but the stuff I found is excellent soul from the 70's mainly.  I spent half a day this past weekend on side one but I had to get his 'famous' one Mr. Dream Merchant into minty shape. Thus no CD's this week.  Tons of soul/bebop/r'N b artists that I have posted in the past show up.

I am not sure if this the whole video or what but it said it was 'Right Side Of My Brain' as title after the Death Valley 69 song opens it up. Marlene Dietrich - The Song Of Songs (2 short clips) (1932)

It seems we have a small contingent of 1930's fans from the post below.  Well, I had just stream captured this classic movie and really liked this song she sings so thought it belonged here.  Marlene Dietrich is listed as the first sex symbol in movies and she made over 50 films.  In 1991 my first year working after college I went to our German factory with four others to learn and launch a new product line of AC Drives having the new 1980's inverter technology and we hung out one night at a bar in Berlin on the famous Kudamm near our hotel and watched a German band quite enthusiastically sing a cover of 'Johnny B. Goode' so maybe hinting to us about Marlene's 'Oh Johnny' song shown here...such a classic...a Song Of Songs in my book the way she sings it!

Here is the final statue smashing scene to give some perspective on the first clip.  Her boyfriend had made a deal with a rich baron to let him marry her after she had fell in love with Lionel Atkins.

NOVA MOB 7-29-1994 at the 7th Street Entry - Grant Hart Tribute

REPOST Request:  Here is what I wrote before:  Want to post a special video highlighting Grant Hart (R.I.P.) and his talented band Nova Mob.  We used to see them quite regularly at their home club First Ave/7th St. in Minneapolis.  It is TV news footage used for a story at the time so keep that in mind as it is not perfect except for sound is great but just too good to stay off the air when they took down my channel.  I give it as a present to the fans as I made the MPG and it was a very popular post before my channel takedown with 3 copyrt strikes.   An addendum I will add that this blog and my inputs to it are a direct result of Grants taste in stocking the Cheapo Records store in St. Paul where he worked and where I started buying every record that looked good with my unemployment money.

Benji's Own Christmas Story 1983 w The Perfect Gift 1988 - MP4 files

Some Urban Wildlife - Red Fox

This is an old top video from my defunct Youtube channel and used to get a lot of comments and views.  A friend, Pal Shazar who sings for Slow Children and who is now married to Jules Shear from Jules and the Polar Bears who both are making some fantastic music right now, had asked me for this video, so I brought it in today for share.  I was out of breath and whistling at the fox who was near its den and protective with some howls but got friendly at the end when I was not a threat to it...part of that right-brain dominant period in my life.

Can Someone Help Me To Identify This Band??

Here is what I know about this, it is from a VHS I got from my little sister's old boyfriend of a band he really liked--I thought it was Too Much Joy but not sure now.  What happened however is that I accidentally recorded over the tape with HIS band doing a practice (in darker lighting and no sound) keeping the part of the original unknown band images interspersed keeping their audio.  Kind of weird because his practice band looks a lot like the unknown band!  Anyway someone please ID it.
